Why is there a 'setHelpText' for tabs and not fields in UI Script objects?

Curious. I'd really like to keep my UI fields consistent with other form fields in terms of help text links on labels. UI fields do not offer this, but curiously, adding tabs or sub tabs allows you to set help text. First off, where is help text applied to a tab??? Second, wouldn't this be better provided on fields than on tabs?
