Get RSS requiring authentication

Hi all,

I need to get the data from an RSS feed into a custom portlet I'm creating, problem is that it has basic HTTP authentication. Is there a way in scripts that I can login to this service? I know I can use nlapiRequestURL to get the data, but what about authentication?
