Getting values from a custom list to a suitelet

Hi all,

I have a suitelet which I have completely developed using HTML.  I have a button inside a suitelet, which on clicking needs to get values from a custom list which is in netsuite and insert it again in the suitelet.  Since I have completely used HTML,  I am not able to use any nlapi..... function to get values.  How can I do this?

Any help is really appreciated.
