User Event script on Web Registration?

We would like to fire a user event script upon a web registration...but this doesnt seem possible.

Has anyone had success in doing this, or can someone confirm that this is not possible (yet) ?

We have written other user event scripts for 'create' on a lead, but for some reason we cant get one to fire on web registration.

We want to set several custom entity fields for the lead on a new registration, as well as to send an email back to the user.

Any help here is greatly appreciated.
