formuladate, formulacurrency etc. Search Columns

Hi,

Does anybody knows how to use formuladate, formulacurrency etc. in the context of searching records, like when using nlapiSearchRecord?

I want to know the exchange rate of a currency as of a specific date. Right now I can only retrieve current exchange rates. I thought maybe I can use formuladate, but I don't know how.
