JSON.stringify = Unexpected Error

I was trying to stringify a JSON object and return it via a Suitelet, but I keep getting the following error:

UNEXPECTED_ERROR
Java class "[Ljava.lang.Class;" has no public instance field or method named "toJSON".

Has anyone accomplished what I described above and have suggestions?

EDIT: I'm using the json2.js parser from Json.org
