nlapiXMLToPDF(xmlstring) to output pdf proposal..

In the documentation, it says that nlapiXMLToPDF(xmlstring) can output a pdf proposal. But I couldn't figure out how this can be done.

Is it possible to limit the items that appear on the PDF proposal?
Could anyone please provide some sample code.

Any help is appreciated.
