List Filters

Hi

I am new to netsuite & suitescripting and trying to find a way to achieve the following. What would be the best way of filtering list field values based on the values in another list field. For eg. I have the item record and I have two list fields say commodity and sub commodity. The drop down values of sub commodity need to get populated based on the value selected in the commodity drop down.
