SuiteScript with Subscriptions

I have just been informed by Support that you cannot manage subscriptions through SuiteTalk.

Our website is NOT integrated with netsuite, with the exception of the contact form.  When a user purchases on the site, I want to give them the option to opt-in to our newsletter.  This customer is then pulled into Netsuite via SuiteTalk.  As I can't set the subscription that way, my next best alternative would be to...

Write a Suitescript from the Add of the Contact record, after submit, that executes the "Send Subscription Email" functionality (from the Contact/Subscriptions tab).  Is there any way do do this in SuiteTalk?
