how to update rate/amount in teh shopping cart through scripting or any other way ?

Hi All

I need to update shopping cart amount field in shopping cart page. the reason is i have different price for each item by couny, so i have to show my custom price in the amount field once the user adds to the cart,
is this possible through scripting?
if so how do i connect to shopping cart -? amont
