Script to Populate UPC Field from the Item Reciept record

I need some assistance trying to get two separate things to happen when I save a record.
1) (this part currently works) I am calculating the number of items received on an item receipt and recording that in a custom field on the header of the record
2) (this is the part that I can't get to work) I'm trying to take the UPC field from the Item Receipt record and on Save populate the corresponding item records UPC field. The code in red is the part that I can't seem to get to work. I don't think I am using the nlapiSubmitField correctly.
