Attempting to get contribution value

Hi,

I am trying to get the contribution value for each employee in the sales teams.

I am using the code following code but am receiving nothing when alerting:-

nlapiSelectLineItem('salesteam', 1)
alert(nlapiGetLineItemText('salesteam', 'contribution', 1))

alert the employee name works fine (nlapiGetLineItemText('salesteam', 'employee', 1).

Can anyone assist me with this?
