Opportunity Expected Close Date

I've been asked to set the expected close date on a new opportunity to today + 14 days, however I'm getting some strange behavior. My code seems to calculate the date properly, however when setting the expectedclosedate field, it is showing the beginning of the month. I'm not able to find any Setup parameter that controls this. Has anyone encountered something similar?
