Another 2010.1 script change?

Prior to 2010.1, we had a Suitelet that would create a field, and then use nlapiSetFieldValue() to set a default.

After 2010.1, this doesn't work. The field is simply not set. We had to do form.setFieldValues().

Is this a bug or an undocumented, permanent change?
