Authenticate SuiteScript Web Service

I'm looking at implementing a SuiteScript web service to create Vendor Return Authorisations, and I'm trying to figure out how to authenticate the web service calls.  The web service will have data posted to it by a PHP script and will return the VRA number OR an error if the item codes are incorrect.  This return will be in the form of a JSON object.

What would people recommend for the authentication side?
