Basics of SuiteScript

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me with some basics of SuiteScript. A simple example:

I want to take the Name field on an item record and make the font color Green. I imagine you could do a script to do this?

What I don't understand:

How to start talking to Netsuite with a .js file. (If that is what is to be used)
How to make it execute "all the time" - To make it so the font color is always green on that item record.

If anyone can help me out, that would be awesome
