Capture session ID in the customer portlet using a suitelet?

Hello,

I'm running a suitelet to create a customised form object via the customer portal. Is there a way of getting the session id so I can use it in my code if the user uses the browser back button to navigate instead of using the cusom buttons that I provide in the forms. This is so I can prevent the user from breaking any workflow by going back a step using the browser. My suitelet is written in Javascript.
