UPC Code / Barcode supported on search?

I am trying to lookup items by barcode. This gives me an "Unexpected Error'...

var filtersItems = [new nlobjSearchFilter('upccode', null, 'anyof', ['8032698541017','8032698541018'])];
var searchItems = nlapiSearchRecord('item', null, filtersItems, null);

Is upccode searchable?
