Assistant (nlobjAssistant) - adding field AFTER sublist

I have an assistant - I'd very much like to control where the fields are added...  I'm already painfully aware that fieldGroups can not contain sublists...  but what I really want to do is the following:

addField(1)

addSubList(A)

addField(2)

addSubList(B)

That's how the code is written...  BUT - it always renders:

addField(1)

addField(2)

addSubList(A)

addSubList(B)

Any thoughts on how to make fields and sublists on an assistant page respect each others ordinal positions?
