Scheduled scripts get stuck while fetching case messages

Hi

We have an integration where in we are integration case and its associated messages with other system. Flow is NS to 3rd party system. Case is working fine. On case messages, there are some of the case messages which are very lengthy with lots of chained message. What i observed is scheduled script gets stuck when it encounters one of the lengthy message and it is trying to fetch its value. In some of the instances it just shows processing status for 24 hours before it times out.

Has anyone successfully fetched long messages from case record or any other record? Currently I am using SS 1.0 version. Or are there any other suggestions to achieve this without script getting stuck. Also there is no way of coming out of the stuck script.
