Sort Custom Records (in Child of) list by custom date field?

I've built a custom record type that is a child record of our customer type records.  These custom records are listings of customer events that we track for our customers.

Is there any way to change the sort order of these records in the child record list in the customer record?  If so, how can I do it?  I want to sort the child records by a custom date field.
