How to create group relationship? one to many relationship

I am having difficulty finding a solution to this group relationship I need to create.

I need to tag each customer to a group id. Each group id will have multiple customer's associated to it and will have a relationship specified to each on how they are related. I want this list of customer who belong to a specific group to appear within respective customer record/s.

I tried creating custom record and specified a customer record as parent, which means only that customer record shows the list, other customer record do not have any list. Thus, this approach is not working.
