Reporting on Custom Records

I just set up a custom record that has a parent record of a customer. Everything is working great so far. I can see my custom records listed under my customer. But I was wondering how can I get the custom record data in the Report Builder? I'd love to query or display this data in a customer report but can't seem to figure out how. Any pointers?
