Require contact / address on custom entity form

Hi -

Is there any way - either through the API or through code - to require users to enter a contact as well as a zip code (in the address field) whenever they fill out a new lead form? 

Our users are sometimes forgetting to enter this information, which means sometimes we get leads with just a company and no contact name, or no zip code so we don't have any idea where the lead is from.
