Account numbers & project codes

Is there a way to create a "project code" on expense entries... I'd like to be able to track certain expenses across our departments by specific initiatives we have going on... I'm envisioning a "project code" field (text only... doesn;t need to be linked to any subledger or anything) on the "enter bills" form.  Hopefully, this field could be populated with a drop down project list box.
