Filtering by Customer Category???

Hi,
I have a custom recorde created. Within that Custom Record I have a field which is a list of contacts (Type: List/Record, List/Record: Contact).

I would then like toi only show certain contacts - I would like to fileter by Contact Category but it does not show in the list to filter bY?

Am I being stupid? I hope yes.

Any help would be much appreciated.
