custom competitor columns

Hello,

Within an Opportunity, I can specify competitors and select a winner should I lose the opportunity.  I would like to add a new column to this competitors section that contains a drop-down box of various options.  I cannot seem to figure out how to add a custom column to this item.  Can someone please point me in the right direction.
