Online forms - accessing hidden fields

Hi,

Does anyone know how I can retrieve\set a value of a hidden field on an online form?

I've created a marketing form and want to set a default field value dependent on what form is being used.  I can use the nlapiGetFieldText and nlapiSetFieldText when the field isn't hidden on the form.

Any ideas?
