Custom Transaction Column Formula Field???

Trying to created a custom transaction column field using a formula, however I get and error "field not found" and can click the set button in the formula pop up window. Need this custom field to display and print on the Invoice PDF form and have the output value to wrap.

I am trying to use the CONCAT function to combine the description value and serial# value of an item. However I keep getting an error

concat ({description}, {serialnumber})

both fields are in our db

Not sure what to select for the type of field

Any suggestions???
