Unnecessary html line breaks in custom fields

We are having issues with how some of our rich text custom fields are displaying in our website.  The physical line breaks in the text field are showing up as <br> on our website.

Example:
<A href="/site/html_pages/index.html">ThrillingAudio</A> > <A href="/site/html_pages/bose.html">Bose</A>

> <A href="/catalog/headphones">Headphones</A> > <A href="/bose-triport-earbud-headphones">In-Ear

Headphones</A>

Shows as:
ThrillingAudio > Bose

> Headphones > In-Ear

Headphones
