nlapiDisableButton ????

So I can add a button on a beforeload event and have an nlobjButton object to manipulate it. However I see no equivalent for managing this on the client form itself (e.g. nlapiDisableButton).

Is there a way to do this other than the DOM? Can I use nlapiDisableField on dynamic UI buttons?
