Custom Fields for Information Items

Am I missing something or is there no way to add custom fields to an information item? Seems like it should be a no-brainer...

I want to set up our youtube videos as Info Items. My idea was to set up a custom drilldown template for the info items; that template would draw the embedded YT player with sourced attribute fields such as video frame height and width, video url, etc. stored on the info item.
