Make Tax Defaulted

The way it is now the tax field can be unchecked on a sales order. When I unchecked show so no one would be able to see the field it also got rid of the ability to see the tax display (these are linked but not sure why). Is there any way I can keep the tax field so the tax amount shows up on a sales order by disabling the ability to change the check box? Or is there a better solution?
