Online Form for potential new partner

Ok, since this is not out of the box functionality, already filed an enhancement on this, I'm wondering if anyone has utilized a customer online form  for a potential new partner to submit and how they implemented. This is our scenario, we have an external website, that would reference an online form, we would like potential partners to sign up and it gets tagged in netsuite as partner..
We already are using customers for another form and would rather want to segment out the different types.. ie customers  stay on customer form.. partners are partners in netsuite.
