Decoding leads created by month and year

Hi,

Currently I have a saved search to count the total number of leads for each month.
The formula below is an example for the month of January:
DECODE(TO_CHAR({datecreated},'MON'),'JAN',1,0)

I want to be able to incorporate the year as well.  For example for leads created in January of 2007.  I am not savy at sql and would appreciate any help you could give me.
