restricting search views in customer centre

i'm trying to restrict the saved Case searches that a customer can view in a sublist in the customer centre, but i can't eliminate the 'default' view. I've edited the customer's role to restrict the case search to the one i want them to see, but the 'default' search is still available

is this by design, or a bug?
