Saved Search unexpected error

Previous to the 2008 release I was able to delete searches that threw unexpected errors.  I can not now access them to delete them. 

The unexpected error apparently is being caused by trying to access a custom field on the customer record that is linked to the time entry record.  I am trying to create an alert search that will let us know when someone books time to a customer record where a field does not contain a value (empty). The field on the customer record is not a required field unless time is booked to this customer.

The search runs and produces expected results but then throws the unexpected error when attempted to access it in edit mode.
