Custom record in Saved Search

Hi,

I created a custom record whose parent is the Employee record.

I now want to report it in a saved search associated with other records.  I want to start with task, then employee, then my custom record (which is clearly already joined to the Employee).

This does not seem to be possible.  If I add multiple entity fields to the Employee record I assume I can do it, but a custom record is much tidier way to store the data.

Any ideas?
