Customer Search for a Group

I am trying to create a group from a search that is pulling the primary contacts information.  The search is pulling the correct information but when I select it to create the group it pulls the main contact information instead of what the actual search is pulling.  Does anyone know why this is happening or if maybe there is a special setting I need to check?
