Display % of Results vs Total

I have a customer saved search setup, with criteria for certain sales dates and total order amounts. I'd like to show the results of this search, as a percentage of all customers. I'm thinking this can be done with a formula field, but I just can't get my head around the logic. Is this possible? I appreciate any help or guidance.
