Pulling the last note activity date

I need to pull a list that will include the date of the last note entry in the results.  The note is under the main company record, "Communications", & then "User Notes".  I just want the date of the most recent note that was entered or created.  I am able to locate the field that i want to pull from, but how can i tell it that i only want the most recent entry date?
