Filter a filter

Hi All,

I have a transaction search with a filter in the footer to select the Item:Preferred Vendor.  Search works fine but in the footer select field, I want to show only vendors within a certain category (manufacturer, not tax agency or anything else). 

Is there a way to filter what is shown in the filter drop down?  Thanks.
