Global Search - custom record w/ no name field

I have a custom record with no "name" field (Include name is unhecked).

I have another integer field which is essentially the unique ID of the record.

I can index on this field and the results display, but they display the internalid (as there is no name), which is not useful to anyone.

Short of enabling the name field and setting a script to populate it from by unique id field, is there another option to get my unique id field on the custom record to show up in the global search results popup.
