Issues when saving in a custom list - Uniqueness of Abbreviations

Hi,

strange problem here, I got a custom list - Size/Unit. and I'm trying to add 2 new lines to the list, with 2 abbreviations - XXLHS68CS48 & XXLHS68PK12. however everytime I try to save it, it comes up with an error -

Please make all abbreviations unique. They will be used to automatically generate Matrix Subitem Name/Number

they are unique, I have also tried changing them to (2XLHS68CS48, 2XLHS68PK12), (XXLHIPS68CS48, XXLHIPSPK12), (2XLHIPSCS48 2XLHIPSPK12) but it's still coming up with the same error message

Please can someone advise.
