Display Expense Account in Inventory PArt search

How can you display the expense account details(internal id : expenseaccount) in an inventory search? I am able to pull the expense/cogs account data, but it always displaying the cogs account, not the expense account. This account is displayed only for items converted from non-inventory to inventory. So, is expense account only for non-inventory items?
