Text Box in message tab of events is missing

One of my users suddenly does not have a text box in the message tab of events when he starts a new event.

Any ideas?

It is only happening to him and it has only been happening since he signed in this morning. When he signed out to go home last night it was fine.  I checked all his personal settings and did not see anything obvious that would cause this and he claims he hasnt made any setting changes.
