Sales Order Status

My objective is to find every pending sales order that has the status of "pendingFulfillment" and a certain date range.  Since there are so many object to pick from, I am a bit confused on which objects/methods I should be using to obtain this information.  The main goal is to extract all the internal ID's that are of this status.  Any help will be appreciated.
