Searching multiple Items by passing list of item numbers

Hi,

We need to update a property for multiple inventory items.
As we only have inventory item names, we need to get the internal id's for these and update the property.
However I can pass only one item name at a time , is there any API which can retrieve all the records based on the list of the item names passed.
