Need a sample Contact Search SOAP request

I am using the 2_6 WSDL, and am looking for a valid, sample Contact Search SOAP Request. ( no API code, just the SOAP Request - body, optional header )

I am getting a message from NetSuite that my SearchRequest is malformed. "SearchRecord is an abstract type and cannot be instantiated."

I tried using one of the samples in the docs but that gave the same error.
