SerialNumbers not being set on Sales Order Line Items

I am having an issue creating a Sales Order where the Serial Number is to be set through the interface.

Here's my code:

salesOrderItemArray(intRow).serialNumbers = Trim(tempSerial)

tempSerial is a comma delimited list of Serial Numbers.

Any ideas?
